Hurricane Sandy survivors with an eye toward avoiding damage from future storms can rebuild stronger and safer even in a high risk flood area. This smart rebuilding is accomplished by elevating your home to meet your community’s minimum elevation regulations. You will avoid future severe weather damage. Adhering to local building codes and getting the proper permits will make your home safer and will save money on federal flood insurance. Rebuilding higher than the minimum requirement is always a wise decision.
